Giles Havergal directs a double-bill of Samuel Beckett two-handers, featuring Patrick Hannaway and Derwent Watson in both plays. First up is The Old Tune, in which two old friends reminisce; followed by the shorter, though arguably better, Rough Theatre, which takes a look at ca- dependency. See review.
Ten Rillington Place Until Sat 18 Nov (not Sun/Mon). 7.30pm. £10 (£3). Kenny Miller adapts and directs Ludovic Kennedy’s book about Timothy Evans, a man hanged for the brutal murders John Christie was later charged with. See review.
The Dance Of Death Until Sat 18 Nov (not Sun/Mon). 7.30pm. £10 (£3). August Strindberg wrote this barbed look at a doomed marriage on recovery from a period of mental illness, and as such the play has a far more mythical quality than his earlier naturalistic plays such as Miss Julie or The Father.Tam Dean Burn plays the ailing husband, Edgar and Anne Marie Timoney his frustrated ex-actress wife. Can’t Pay? Won't Pay! Thu 9—Sat 11 Nov. 7.30pm. £6 (£3). Set in the working class suburbs of Milan, this fast-paced political farce from Dario F0 is a theatrical gem. When a group of housewives plunder their local supermarket in a protest about inflated prices, they incur the wrath of their trade unionist husbands and the local police. Performed by Glasgow University ’5 Stag Theatre.

Philip Schof'ield hands over the doctor’s reins to madhouse resident Russ Abbot as the hit musical continues its tour. But regardless of who’s at the helm, the real stars of the show are the 90-odd animatronic animals who squawk and talk their way through this fun show. See Phil Kay page 6
