Superb clarinettist Kenny Davem, who has previously worked with Marty Grosz and Soprano Summit, is set to play an evening of jazz accompanied by the Tom Finlay Trio. This venue, being a church, has no licence but an interval will be taken so punters can retire to nearby venues for beverages and other refreshments.

Lee Konitz, Phil Bancroft and Martin Kershaw perform an evening of high calibre jazz saxophony. Lee Konitz is a bit of a legend in jazz circles and it is a rare chance to catch him in Scotland. Having worked in jazz since the 405 he has played with luminaries such as Miles Davis, Stan Kenton and Warne Marsh. With Phil Bancroft and Martin Kershaw as well this night should show what a saxophone can really do. See preview for Martin Kershaw. An outfit who specialise in genuine Brazilian music featuring Lynne Ramsay on vocals and percussion, Nigel Clark on guitar, native Brazilian Mario Caribe on bass and Ken Mathieson on percussion. I Gil Scott-Heron La Belle Angele, Hastie’s Close, 225 7536. 10.30pm-3am. The Godfather of rap and man behind the timeless ‘The Revolution Will Not Be Televised‘ and ‘The Bottle’. Writing poems and having two novels published by the age of 13, he has been playing his own brand of jazz since the early 705. A little known fact about Scott-Heron: his father played for Celtic (yes that Celtic!).
