I Lapsus Linguae and Indafusion The Attic, Dyer’s Close, 71 Cowgate, 225 8382. 7.30pm. £4. Unjustly accused of being ‘Cure-like’ in this very publication, we retract all accusations after hearing tracks they recorded for an as yet unreleased album/EP. Imagine if Shellac recruited Tori Amos to bang out a few tunes on the old joanna for them and they got all confused and emotional in the process. If there is any justice in the world these people should be running the country, not just ruling the airwaves.

Carpets keyboard player with his new band. Mates of Travis, you know.
So who is Jill Scott? Apart from being party to one of the strangest and most secretive PR campaigns this side of Macy Gray, she is a stunnin ly talented singer. Part Gil Scott Heron, part Chaka Khan and a lot of Bi ly Holliday, her debut album positively shivers with the best influences of
jazz, hi
hop and the blues. Signed to US basketball hero Michael Jordan's
new la el, her CV reads like a who's who of modern R818 with collaborations with Jazzy Jeff, Erykah Badu, Common and Will Smith. Her debut single ’Gettin’ In The Way’ was released on 23 Oct and she
plays the Liquid Room on Sun 12 Nov.
I Live Music The Beat Room, g2, Sauchiehall Street, 353 3111. 7.30pm. Free. Recording of the BBC Choice music show featuring a special guest who has already appeared in Glasgow in the last couple of days but shall remain nameless. Check it out nonetheless.
Edinburgh
I Low, Bridget Storm and The Zephyrs The Liquid Room, 9c Victoria Street, 225 2564. 7.30pm. £7. Low are expert exponents of some of the most fail, beautiful and quiet music known to man. The US trio’s last visit to Edinburgh at the Attic resulted in audience members heckling each other as their talking was drowning out the music. Local melancholy indie types The Zephyrs are definitely worth turning up early for too.
