USHER HALL

The City of Edinburgh Council has recently spent in excess of £9 million refurbishing the Usher Hall, the City's world renowned Classic Concert Hall. We are now looking for key operational staff the help the Hall to

fulfil its potential.

Front of House Staff - Ref R100] I 26 (£4.00 - £4.40 per hour, Pay Award Pending)

We are seeking applications from people wishing to join a pool of staff called to work as and when required with regular evening/weekend work and possible daytime. Applicants must be able to follow set procedures, work with minimum supervision and communicate effectively with other staff and the public. You must be committed to providing a high level of customer care and be able to respond to emergency situations quickly and effectively. The Usher Hall is on 3 levels and the successful candidates will need to use stairs on a regular basis to work on each level. A willingness to adapt a flexible approach to operational duties and to undertake further training as required is essential. A part uniform will be provided.

“Art of Archaeology Project"

The “Art of Archaeology" project has been grant aided by the Heritage Lottery Fund and initiated by the Society of Archaeologists. Our Council Museums Service is one of a consortia of museums involved in this project. The project aims to encourage new and interdisciplinary uses of the archaeological resource in museums by involving artists, designers and the community in its interpretation.

We are now seeking to appoint a creative writer to work within the communities of Glenboig and Cardowan to encourage individuals and groups to investigate and respond to their industrial heritage.

You must have experience in working with community groups, have a good folio of published work and preferably be on the Scottish Arts Council's Writers' Register. You will be able to provide your own transport between the aforementioned communities.
