Boom Boom
The Crags, Edinburgh, Fri 27 Oct. Now, as you may have heard in our last two issues, the fur has been flying in the world of Scottish comedy. The departure of Bill Dewar, half of The Useless Guide To Scot/and from The Stand's comedy team is having further repercussions. Dewar has announced the setting up of a rival comedy club in Edinburgh, Boom, Boom.
The initial line-up brings together some of the strongest talent currently available on the Scottish circuit. Dewar will compere a programme that includes camp diva Craig Hill, arguably the outstanding new comic talent of the moment, as well as The List’s own Phil Kay. In addition, Paul McNeilI will appear, and there’s an open spot to

check out new talent. If this initial bill is anything to go by, we can expect some
splendid comedy over the next wee while.
Meanwhile, The Stand has announced the reversal of its booking policy, which was at the heart of Scotland’s comedy revolt. The Stand says that it is now strong enough to survive without it. (Steve Cramer)
