Diggin’ in the crates for tunes currently filling and clearing the dancefloors.

Kelis Get Along Without You (Virgin *tt) Although not her finest, the latest from Kelis benefits from a two step remix, a commercial house revamp from David Morales and sultry soul breakdown from Dodge.

Monsta Boy feat. Denzie Sorry (I Didn’t Know) (Locked On ****) Already a UK Garage anthem, this straight two step tune is destined to be huge. Featuring two top remixes by David Howard and nice design on the sleeve.

Roni Size/Reprazent Who Told You? (Mercury ****) Ahead of the game yet again, Roni Size is now creating a hard-edged funky hybrid of drum & bass and hip hop and the first single from the new album is suitably fierce. Lily Ray Wonderin' (Cooltempo tit) An uplifting slice of garage with a delicate yet powerful vocal, lush production and a porky bass. Also featuring the obligatory two step remix. Duke So In Love With You (Perfecto it) First released in ’95, Perfecto have decided it’s time to flog this tune once more with remixes from a pre- Fatboy Slim, Full Intention, Dred Poets and Stella Browne. Paul van Dyk We Are Alive (Deviant *i) Jennifer Brown has the kind of vocal that reminds you of Footloose and PvD is still doing that bubbly synth trance that makes you feel right euphoric. Fat Boy Slim Bird Of Prey (Skint inhk) A rather bland return with the too familiar tones of Doors singer Jim Morrison droning over the kind of floor/chart friendly breaks Cook has made his own. Uninspired. Motormark Cheetin' Na-Na—Na Honey (Teepee but) An insane two- tracker of a feminist bumping drum & bass groove with a flipside of distorted 4/4 beats, subliminal vocal loops and disparate strangeness. Juan Pablo Torres Rompe Cocorico (Mr Bongo tit) London’s premier exponents of tasty Latin dishes serve up a kinky kickdrum heavy track. The 'tribal dub’ is the meatiest portion on offer but the others fails to enthral. Lucy Pearl Don't Mess With My Man (Virgin *ttt) The US hip hop/soul trio's superb acoustic guitar-led bump is given the heavy remix treatment with Mood ll Swing, Wookie, Linslee Campell and Pacific Ocean Highway boosting an already top track in every way imaginable. Fantastic. (Catherine Bromley and Mark Robertson)
