Spencer arrived in Port (ilasgow in l‘)40. commissioned to produce a series of paintings of the shipyard workers at Lithgow's Yard. He spent the next six years completing the commission. resulting in a series of monumental. frieze-like paintings which capture the labours of the workforce. Showing alongside these works are Spencer's ‘Resurrection' paintings. created at the
