Paul Traynor and Jamie Strang of Archaos fame with line and funky R&B cuts, hip hop and some classic soul and funk thrown in to keep the capacity crowd going. I Tangent at Alaska. 11pm-3am. £tbc. Weekly. The Tangent duo of A-Man and panic take up residency at Alaska, bringing their eclectic dance beats with them.
I Polo Lounge at The Polo Lounge. 11pm—3am. £5. Weekly. Michelle provides a loose mix of house and indie classics downstairs, while Andy rocks the Trophy Room with 805 and 905 hits at this gay venue.
I Pressure at The Arches. 10pm—3am. £13 in advance; £14 at the door. 28 Apr. Monthly. Another cracker of a line-up at the last Pressure before Slam take to the high seas for some Renfrew Ferry shenanigans. This time around there’s a Best of British theme, as opposed to the usual Best of the World, with Stuart & Orde ably assisted by Darren Emerson, The End’s Mr C and Swag.

SLAM ELECTRONICA Freelance Science Glasgow: Alaska, Sat 6 May.
Consider, if you will, the god-like popularity of Glasgow's golden sons of techno, Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle. The pair otherwise known as Slam can seemingly do no wrong - packing out enormous venues, supporting any dance gig worth its salt, world tours, festivals, as well as having an international reputation for being, quite simply, the dog's bollocks. Despite this, surely starting yet another night in the somewhat saturated Glasgow club-scene is madness, especially when they don't allow anyone else to guest. no matter how nicely they beg.
'The whole idea was that you could have a good night out without relying on big names,’ explains Slam promoter Crae Caldwell. 'Stuart and Orde are premier name 015 anyway, and the point was that we didn't need guest 015 to be busy. It's more fun for them as well; they're not just playing for two hours, they're playing the warm up right through to the conclusion. And the night gives them a chance to play with the machines.’
Thoughts of mad Frankenstein robotics aside, Stuart and Orde utilise a range of equipment in addition to the standard three decks. On any given night, the pair will be messing with a Pioneer mixer, a Roland-909 drum machine, an MPC, and another sampler, determined by the mood that they are in. They also experiment widely throughout the night with the material that they have programmed during the week.
Crae says that ‘we sell out within an hour of the doors opening. and because the capacity is only 450, we can be a little picky about who we let in. It's really, really old skooi - it's like clubs used to be before they went all commercial. Honestly. it's a total sweatbox.’ (Simone Baird)

I Relief at The Arches. 11pm—3am. £8 (£6). Weekly. The Relief chaps have been sticking to their own considerable talents for a while, but after Sneak’s masterful showing last month, things seem to be hotting up again: Gene Farris guests on 12 May.
I Salsa Sabrosa at Strathclyde University Student Union. 9.30pm-3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Keith, Alexis and Geo D with the best in merengue, salsa and all things Latin. Entry includes dance classes at the start of the night.
I Soulsa at Eat Drink Man Woman. 9pm-late. £3. Weekly. Smooth disco courtesy of Andy Unger, Rodger, Pete Murphy and Wayne Dixon, who are keen to show that disco doesn’t just mean Daft Punk and their filter-happy peers, preferring instead the genuine classics the revivalists sample and, well, rip off.

I Traxx at Planet Peach. 10pm—3am. £8. 12 May only. A Traxx special with Elliot Eastwick, the head honcho of the ever- reliable Paper Recordings and founder of Hard Times currently garnering much praise for his Robodisco night down Manchester way.
