The Pitchfork Disney Wed 3—Sat 6 May. 7.30pm. £7 (£4). 58th Floor Theatre Company present Philip Ridley’s visceral tale of 28-year-old twins, abandoned by their parents aged eighteen, living on chocolate and tranquillisers and struggling to walk the fine line between realit and nightmare.

Theatrical barberlsm: Sweeney Todd at King’s Edinburgh
20th century’s finest writers, David Mamet and Jean-Paul Sartre. The Shawl features a recently bereaved woman finding solace in a clairvoyant, while In Camera finds three guilty characters locked in a room.

Macbeth Until Sat 29 Apr. 7.30pm (Sat mat 2pm). £7.50 (£3.50); family ticket £18.50. Scottish Youth Theatre inject some inspired touches to this Shakespeare classic, paring down the text but beefing up the action with video footage, music and fashion.
The Rent Strike: Battle Of Govan Tue 26m 6 May. 7.30pm. £8 (£4). Cran Theatre Company continue their Govan Trilogy with this second instalment centring on the Govan rent strikes of 1915. While the rest of the nation was at war with Germany, Glasgow folk had their hands full battling against unscrupulous landlords cashing in on property demands.

Biggles Cocks It Up Sat 6 May. 2.30pm. £2. Boundless Theatre Company give a rehearsed reading of a new play set for full scale production this summer. An old fighter pilot ending his days in a retirement home reminisces about the glory days. Meanwhile his grandson returns from a very different war wracked by memories of combat. See Stage Whispers.
libbering Into The Mirror Thu 11 & Fri 12 May. 7.30pm. £8 (£5). Innovative young British Asian company Blooding Rites explore the theme of courtship in this new production. Fusing traditional Bharatna Natynam with contemporary movement and soundscapes, they run the relationship gamut from traditional Japanese tea ceremonies to meeting for a pint in the local.

Feast Sat 29 Apr. 8pm. Free. Glasgow’s Fablevision and Leeds’ Red Ladder join forces with the newly formed Soul Food Theatre Company for this celebration of Glasgow’s cultural diversity. Devised during a two-week theatre school for young people, Feast aims to promote a unified, multi-cultural city through a mix of drama, dance and movement.

Spring's early blooms
Kirov Ballet If it’s old fashioned, classical ballet can still add new forms of excitement as history changes our perspective on it. This world famous company will visit Edinburgh as part of a brief UK tour, presenting the opportunity to see traditional dance on a scale and level of skill of international repute. Three Tall Women Edward Albee’s reflection on the ageing process and the fears that attend it. Edith Macarthur leads in the role of a woman fearing her impending decrepitude and struggling to come to terms with two other women in her life. A powerful night of theatre, with a subtext of existential angst. Perth: Perth Rep, until Sat 29 Apr.
The Heiress Philip Franks directs this adaptation of Henry lames’ Washington Square, the account of the emotionally fraught courtship of a woman of means and scheming young fop. Her father and aunt intervene and the mystery of each character’s motivation becomes the impetus of plot. Edinburgh: King’s Theatre, Tue 2—Sat 6 May.
Kokuma Dance Theatre Company: Pagan Masses Tue 9 May. 7.30pm. £7 (£3). Fusing African, European and Latin American dance forms, Kokuma present this energetic work, set to music by jazz musician David Murray.
