I Glasgow Phoenix Choir Royal Concert Hall, 2 Sauchiehall Street, 287 5511. 7.30pm. £6—£11. Robert Ross and Brassomania join the choir for a ‘Classic Pops Collection’, including pieces from the blockbusting Titanic, which should go down particularly well (groan).
Edinburgh
I Scottish Chamber Orchestra Queen’s Hall, Clerk Street, 668 2019. 7.45pm. £5.50—£18.50. Nicholas Kraemer directs from the harpsichord as the SCO go back in time to celebrate the music of the 18th century. From the Age of Enlightenment to the birth of Romanticism, the programme reflects the diversity of the era, with pieces by Telemann, Bach, Rameau and Haydn.
I Edinburgh Telephone Choir Greyfriars Kirk, Greyfriars Place, 668 2019. 7.30pm. £4. What initially sounds like a very odd name for a choir, makes rather more sense when you consider that the original 19405 members all worked at the Rose Street telephone exchange. Today the choir is made up of over forty singers from all walks of life, performing an annual concert wittily entitled Dial M For Music.

Currently quartet-in-residence at the universities of Leeds, Newcastle and Bristol, this exciting young string quartet have toured extensively throughout the world to rapturous acclaim. Today they perform Britten’s Rhapsody and String Quartet No 3 and Haydn’s String Quartet in E Flat.

Sopranos Martina von Bargen and Beatrice Huber are joined by alto Beata Borchert and pianist Alan Graham for an evening of music and song. All proceeds go to the Live 175 appeal which donates money to over 40 health charities.
