Doves feature members of Sub Sub, the Mancunian danceniks who scored a hit in the early 905 with the funky ‘Ain’t No Love (Ain’t No Use)’ but are taking off in more of an indie direction these days. Moving in the opposite direction is Echoboy aka Richard Warren, formerly of retro rockers The Hybirds, who is now a bit of a convert to electronica.

I Gary Moore Barrowland, Gallowgate, 552 4601. 7.30pm. £17.50 plus booking fee. A great favourite of advance air guitar players everywhere owing to his elaborate fretboard virtuosity. Shame he can’t seem to fit a decent tune into the tepid rock mix.
