I 0.5. Murray Quartet Jazz Joint, 8 Morrison Street, 538 7385. 10pm-3am. £4 (£3). A funky, freestyle jazz and hip hop selection from these movers and shakers on the Glasgow scene. Their national profile is on the up as well, thanks to last year’s album release, Home Movies, copies of which are available on the night. Decks effects come from a pool of DJs including Lewis, Sly Si and Unkle Fawaz.

Via the dazzling power of multimedia jiggery-pokery, Elvis performs his first ever British tourfrom beyond the grave!.’. This video-projected Elvis talks to the audience, enters and exits, introduces his band and probably has posable limbs too. The human element is provided by Elvis contemporaries including James Burton on guitar, Glen D Hardin on piano, Ronnie Tutt on drums, The Stamps and The Sweet Inspirations on backing vocals and Joe Guercio conducting a 16-piece orchestra.

I Brand New Heavies Barrowland, Glasgow. 7pm. £15. Retroistic funkatonic shenanigans from the people who make the Brady Bunch look like the antithesis of post-modem, cutting edge style. Their unashamed party funk has been improved somewhat with the installation of Carleen Anderson on lead vocals, but the reason behind their popularity, along with that of Simply Red, remains a mystery. .
