Featured artists include Roderick Buchanan who records the fluctuations in the organic form made by Tour de France cyclists filmed from the air, Paul Carter’s Blood From Stone brings together the ingredients for a miracle and VlIO Acconci’s work from the early 19705 features simply bodily contortions. Royal Mail Millennium Collection 2000 Until Thu 24 Feb. A display of the Royal Mail’s specially commissioned stamps which looks at British achievements over the past 1000 years. The exhibition features works by David Hockney, a special stamp featuring Our Dynamic Earth and photographs taken by local people which documents life in Edinburgh in the year 2000.

Gateway To Greenland: Spirit 01‘ A Journey Until Fri 31 Mar. The story of the development and movement of Eskimo culture from their original homeland of the Bering Strait to Greenland. On show are early Eskimo art featuring small figures, carvings and tools discovered during archaeological excavations in Siberia, Alaska, Canada and Greenland.
Chinese Paintings From The Shanghai Museum Collection Sat 19 Feb-Sun 21 May. Over 50 artworks drawn from the Shanghai Museum Collection go on display for the first time in the UK. Featuring 19th century and 20th century paintings, scrolls and album leaves by artists working in Shanghai at the time, the works illustrate the beauty and subtlety of Chinese painting at a time of social and cultural change.

Among the impressive international line-up of artists are Brion Gysin and Ian Somerville, Douglas Gordon, Gilbert & George, Alberto Giacometti, Eva Rothschild and Jane and Louise Wilson.
