THE LIGHTHOUSE
11 Mitchell Lane, 221 6362. Mon, Wed, Fri & Sat 10.30am—6pm; Tue llam—6pm; Thu 10.30am—8pm; Sun noon—5pm. Converted from Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s first major public building and former offices of The Herald, this new venue is the home of Scotland‘s centre for Architecture, Design and the City.
Making Space Until Tue 29 Feb. A sample of work produced by primary school pupils studying within the neighbourhoods of the Millennium Spaces.
Building Design Partnership Until Fri 3 Mar. This exhibition looks at the diversity of materials used in modern building which ranges from stone and brick to aluminium and titanium. A display of the recent work of Building Design Partnership’s Glasgow Office illustrates this diversity.
Jack Cunningham Until Sun 12 Mar. New works by Jack Cunningham exploring contemporary narrative jewellery through the visual and emotional content of the pieces. Metacity/Data Town Until Sun 23 Apr. Where is the contemporary city going? Conceived by Winny Maas, researched and produced by MVRDV, one of Holland’s cutting-edge architectural practices. this exhibition attempts to understand this notion. The centre piece
of the show is a small room constructed in gallery 5, in which the four walls pulsate with changing images and information, creating a virtual reality projection of an imaginary city for 241 million inhabitants.

Luke Fowler creates his own ‘Social Experiment Situation’ where members of the local community can engage in personal, theoretical or sceptical debate over the issue of social control within their lives. The project includes contributions from artists Jakob Kolding, Chad McCail and Scanner. Anyone interested in being involved in the project should contact the gallery.

Keeping Glasgow In Stitches Until Tue 29 Feb. An exhibition of banners made during Glasgow’s year as European City of Culture in 1990.
Intimate Views Until Mon 1 May. This photographic exhibition reveals the marine life living in the waters of the Irish Sea and the west coast of Scotland. Proximity Fri 25 Feb—Sun 9 Apr. Scottish artist Stephen Boyd’s exhibition of paintings takes its inspiration from traditional paintings from the past, notably works at Kelvingrove, including The Adulteress Brought Before Christ attributed to Giorgione and Thomas Faed’s Last Of The Clan. His work consists of traditional painters’ materials and modern reproductive technology.
