I Burd Called Ger at Eat Drink Man Woman. 8pm—midnight. Free. Weekly. A new night at a new venue for Ms Ger featuring hip hop, funk and reggae and aimed at a student crowd.

I Deejays In Disguise at The Variety Bar. 8pm—close. Free. Weekly. The Knucklehead crew take a breather from their usual hectic style and concentrate on the dubbier end of the techno spectrum.

I Edward's at Edward’s. 9pm—midnight. Free. Weekly. Keith Pyper with the latest Clubland has to offer.

I Free Party Power at The Living Room. 9pm—midnight. Free. Weekly. Quality underground house action, spiced up with a bit of skewed disco.

I Nomad at Nomad. 7.30pm—midnight. Free. Weekly. New pre-club with resident ‘Donut’ Jay joined by Kris Keegan, Ian Thompson and AJ spinning the best house sounds.

I Pousey Cafe at Air Organic. 8—11pm. Free. Weekly. Shifting up a gear after the move from Sunday nights, the Jengaheads get you stoked up for a night out with a mixed bag of beats, from electro through to house.

I Phatboy’s Kitchen at McChuill’s Way Out West. 8pm—midnight. Free. Weekly. Hip hop, breaks and beats courtesy of G Man and The Wax Monkey.

I Virunga at Brel. 9pm-midnight. Free. Weekly. A top selection of tunes with a world bias, including soca, Latin dance, African sounds and reggae.

I 1210 at Babaza. 8pm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Top notch house, garage and trance from Ian Thompson and David Gilmore, renowned for keeping the crowd on their toes and dropping the odd surprise track. In a bid to encourage new talent, the residents step down between 8pm and 11pm, turning over the Technics to up-and-coming DJs. Call the club on 204 0101 for details of how to participate.

I Bennet's at Bennet’s. 11pm-3am. £3 (£2). Weekly. Shawn with a commercial dance mix in the main room, while Annie supplies 70s and 805 hits at this gay club. I Booty lam at The 13th Note Club (upstairs). 10pm—3am. Free entry before 11pm; £3 after. Weekly. Lazarus and Company take over from Now ls That What 1 Call Music? with a night promising to be a potent mix of beats, taking in anything from rare groove to classic hip h0p via dub.

I Breaktn' Point at The 13th Note Club (basement). 9pm—3am. Weekly. Free before midnight; £2 after. As the name suggests, an evening of electronic breaks and beats.

I Casino Royale at The Apartment. 11pm—3am. £4. Weekly. Bossa nova beats, Hammond grooves,

soundtracks and loungccore from your hosts Frankie Savaloy and Kirk St Moritz. Additional entertainment value added by the Bedazzled comedy collective and Monty Cantsin ofBear Room fame.

I Columbian at The Asylum Back Room. 8pm—1am. £1 (free to CUSU members). Weekly. Music with breaks, from hip hop and big beat to soul and funk.

I Cop at Archaos. 11pm-3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Absolutely colossal student night with Vance and CJ supplying hard partying house anthemics in the main room and daft classics from Tam Coer downstairs.

I Dazed 8: Confused at Qudos (Queen Margaret Student Union). 7.30pm-2am. £2 (£1). Students and up to four guests. Weekly. Live music every week from aspiring local talent until around 10.30pm, when the residents take over, spinning a retro set encompassing funk, soundtracks and indie classics.

I Freedom at The Shed. 10pm-3am. £3 (£2). Weekly. Paul N’Jie with a smooth mix of garage, funk and commercial house.

I Pimp at Planet Peach. 11pm—3am. £4. Weekly. Steve Gaston pumps out the funkiest disco and lightens the blend with the occasional kitsch classic at this new night.

I G.M.T. at Bonkcrs. 11pm—3am. £3. Weekly. Live music, naff student tunes and absolutely ludicrous drinks promos make for a fun night out, of sorts.

I Go Bang at Reds. 11pm-3am. £3. Weekly. A night from the team behind the mighty Optimo featuring brand new talent in the form of GK Machine, Glenn C, Jay Hay and Guy, who spin a varied techno selection of 4/4 sounds, rather than the unholy mess fans of the sister club have come to expect.

I Hi Karate at The Glasgow School of Art. 10pm—Zam. Free before 11pm; £1.50 (£1) after. Weekly. Andrew Divine and Neil McMillan get dirty with ragga, hip hop, two-step, electro and whatever else takes their fancy, all shot through with a serious dose of the funk. The Karate crew also find time to produce an occasional newsletter to keep the kids up to date and, for online types, the Karate website should be up and running before long at www.hikarate.freeserve.co.uk.

I MFI at Universe (Coatbridge). 11pm-2.30am. £4 (£2). Weekly. Big telly man Ewan MacLeod and DJ Bob with a disco-tinged selection of house old and new.

I Ouch! at Woodside Social Club. 17 Feb only. The rollercoaster ride of live music and high grade DJ action returns. This time the peerless drum ’n’ soul group Engine perform live along with Ground Control, while Kev Dillon, Paul Welsh and Chris Lamb man the 12105. Arrive early to catch the live stuff— Engine in particular are unmissable.

I Rhythm And Blues at Life. 10pm-3am. £5. Weekly. The newest and prettiest addition to the Glasgow club scene, Life continues to impress with a new night of top notch R&B with Paul Traynor (Babaza) joined by Naeem and Stuart McCallum. See Hitlist.

I Salsa Sabrosa at Havana. 10.30pm-3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. Top notch Latin sounds, with all hip-shaking genres covered.

I Skint at The Cathouse. 11pm-3am. £4 (£2). Weekly. Tough chemical breaks and beats, rock and indie for a studenty crowd. I Skycop at Skybar (Archaos). 11.45pm—3am. £4 (£3). Weekly. The posh bit of Archaos thrills to the deep house stylings of Ryan Kerr as the regular student night packs them in downstairs.

I Special Favours at The Glasgow School of Art (Vic Bar). lOpm—Zam. £1. Weekly. A brand new evening from the self-proclaimed ‘goddesses of sound’ DJ Mingo-go and LJT Bosom, who promise to provide everything from naff pop to chees beats via sleazy electro.

I Su City Radio Launch Party at Alaska. 11pm-3am. Free with flyer. 17 Feb only. The award-winning student radio station returns for another month of top notch broacasting. To celebrate, a plethora of Dls will be rocking Alaska, with Dub Dentists, The Operators and Charlie lnman taking care of business in the white cube. Upstairs, meanwhile, sees Live One and the Freak Menoovers on four decks. As if that wasn’t enough, Optimo DJs Mr. Wilkes and Twitch close the evening’s entertainments. You lucky

The best clubs in Glasgow this fortnight

Firehorse Foundations After the success of their nights at Bacchus, the Firehorse crew have launched a new pre-club dedicated to bringing live music to the masses and showcasing the talents of up-and-coming Dls. Tonight's event features All Jengahead and Paul Welsh on the decks and a live set from Ground Control, who use decks, samplers and the like to create back to basics hip hop around the scattershot toasting of MC Nordin. Rhythm And Blues Life, which is fast gaining a name for high calibre tunes to match the swish decor, launches a new R&B night featuring the talents of Paul Traynor, Naeem and Stuart McCallum, all of whom have built solid reputations at the likes of Bump ‘N’ Hustle and Soundpresence. Expect across the board selections from the slick and soulful, to more hard edged, hip hop influenced tracks. Life, Thu 77 Feb.

Slave Opening Weekend Adding a touch of glamour and a thumping hard house soundtrack to Glasgow clubbing, Mary Kiani’s latest venture kicks off with a free weekend, giving the kids a chance to sample the Slave experience. Saturday night features Trade style hard house, while you can expect funkier Chicago sets helped along by some live percussion. Slave, Sat 19 and Sun 20 Feb.

. Sleazy Listening A one off special

dedicated to the stickier things in life, tonight see Lex Bastard and Kelvin Bridge (aka DJ Mingo-go and Twitch) joined by Douglas T Stewart and UT Bosom soundtracking non-stop erotic dancing. The live performance from Erobique, billed as 'the German psychotic disco answer to Money Mark', is the cherry on that cake. Glasgow School Of Art, Fri 25 Feb. Sub-Bass Now that the Subby has settled in to its new home, they've come up with a new night featuring the talents of popular beat manipulators, Ali and Martyn of The Jengaheads.
