the musical talents of pupils from Edinburgh schools. On Thursday, Portobello High School‘s String Orchestra perform Schindler 3 List, St Mary's Primary School address themes of homelessness through mime and movement, Broughton High School’s Jazz Band provide the swinging sounds and Gilmerton Primary present their recorder group. Friday sees performances from St Mary‘s Music School with Bach‘s Brandenburg Concerto No 3, Libetton High School‘s Jazz Band, Wester Ilailes Education Centre perform rock, pop and jazz and South Morningside Primary Choir perform an excerpt from the musical l'anamamo.

Messages From The Future Until Sat 29 Jan. Focusing on ‘visions for the future’, primary school children in Edinburgh worked with artists Kenny Bean and Lindsay Perth in the gallery’s new digital lab and darkrooms, to create both digital and chemical photography.

Wee Stories Theatre For Children bring Spring And The Selfish Giant to the Festival

North Lanarkshire Council's literary festival 2000 ll'orils is just one of the planned council-wide events to celebrate the new millennium. But it‘sjust not about a load of old books. The festival has something for all ages and tastes with a strong child-friendly content. Young people can meet some of their favourite authors including Aileen Paterson and master storyteller James Campbell. Performances come from some of the best children‘s theatre companies around including Richard Medrington's Puppet Company, Wee Stories Theatre For Children and Folding Theatre Puppet Company. For fans of Roald Dahl. Motherwell Moviehouse are screening four of his best-loved stories and for budding writers. there’s a chance to enter the North Lanarkshire Writer ()f The Year competition.
