I The Money Shot at The Bongo Club. 10.30pm—3am. £3. 4 Nov. Monthly. Formerly of The Wee Red Bar, this hip hop, funk and drum & bass night with Glasgow’s The Tablist Lounge the special guests.
I Motherfunk at The Venue. 10.30pm—3am. Price £8 (£6). 21 Oct only. A one-off special to celebrate Motherfunk’s third birthday. The exceptionally popular Tuesday nighter that has packed ’em in with a mix of hip hop, funk and soul, throws in an extra night for kicks. The fact that they could get Mr Gilles Peterson as well probably helped. The owner and founder of Talkin’ Loud Records (who signed, among others, Roni Size) is adored for his eclectic hip hop, jazz, drum & bass and soul and tonight will be a highlight of the calendar for consumers of quality music. I Biff Bang Pow! at The Venue (top floor). 11pm—3am. £3. 22 Oct. Fortnightly. A brand new night of indie classics, 605 pop, soul, swingers with some Northern soul and Hammond grooves showing cult videos.
I Boogie Mo Dynamo Meets Headspin at The Bongo Club. 10.30pm—3am. £7 (£5 sluts and aliens). 29 Oct only. One of the most successful nights in the capital at the moment with Smack and Believe of Boogie Mo fame doing the devastating big beat thing while dressed in drag; the Headspin all- stars mashing up house, trip hop and soul. Word of advice: get there super- early or you’ll be queueing up to the Royal Mile.
I Boogie Nights at Walkers. llpm—3.15am. £5 (£4). 22 Oct and fortnightly. It’s 705 vs 905 disco and dance, K001 and the Gang to Blockster. I Circus Circus at Eden. 10pm—3am. £6. 22 Oct. Fortnightly. Mr Todd (Higher Ground) and Simone (Tribal Funktion) dish out a mix of funk, soul, disco and garage.
I C ub Java at Club Java. lOpm—lam. Free. Weekly. A new place combining restaurant, bar and club in the new development of Commercial Quay. The club starts up around 10pm-ish with DJ Jonny.

I Funk Train at The Potterrow. 10pm-3am. £7 (£5). 22 Oct. Monthly. The very best in commercial funk and soul at this super-popular student venue. I Higher Ground at La Belle Angele. 10.30pm—33m. £6 (£5). 29 Oct. Monthly. After the closure of The Honeycomb, Higher Ground have moved to La Belle and tonight sees not only the first night of their new residency, but their second birthday. A perfect example of just how good Edinburgh clubbing can actually be, Higher Ground have made ‘rcal deal deep house’ their own, standing by their residents and booking occasional guests who are rarely seen in the capital. A favourite of many punters in the city, tonight will be one of the best around. I Ignition at Studio 24. 11pm—3am. £5 (£4). 22 Oct. Monthly. Head through to the main floor with Billy Ritchies original Mission rock night while upstairs at Overload it’s nu metal and alternative with Duncan Gray and Claire.

I Noa at Noa. 10pm—3am. Free before midnight; £6 after. Weekly. Jon Flowers in the main room with smooth-as-you- like garage; Paul Dixon through the back with old skool, soul and funk.
I Nomad at Wilkie House. 10.30pm—3am. £7. 29 Oct only. A new night where the ethos is to avoid a specific music policy or home (hence the name), and rather seek out the best in dance and electronic music, whatever the genre. Tonight they welcome with open arms Dr Alex Paterson, founder of the Orb and awesome DJ in his own right, Egon Z0 (Deviant), renowned in the world of dub, and Nomad resident Flix. I Pure at The Venue. 10.30pm-3am. £8 (£6). 29 Oct. Fortnightly. Following the spate of enormous guests, they show no signs of slowing down with Luke Slater offering a DJ set to the Pure faithful. After the success of Frcek Funk, Luke hasjust released the electro punk (as he calls it) LP Wireless. His sets always feature loads of attitude and tonight will be a highlight of many a techno calendar. Sec panel.

I Rebel Waltz at City Cafe. 9pm-3am. Free. 22 Oct. Fortnightly. Somethings never change and it’s good to see that Murray Richardson is still at the Cafe once a fortnight, mucking about on the decks as though he knows what he is doing (only kidding), playing deep house.
I The Second Coming Of Satan Party at Studio 24. llpm—3am. £6 (£4 costumed). 29 Oct only. The Subtle Logic people bring you a night during which they promise to raise Satan. Well, that’s what they told us, anyway. DJs include Flaming Ross, Psycho Brown, SAm (T) beAN, Wrath of Rod, Father Matt and Chaplin Juggernaut playing a heady mix of acid trance, techno and the like. Keep your diaries open for their birthday in November, lots of great things have been planned.
