Temporary Stage Assistants
£4.27 per hour (under review) plus appropriate enhancements
Based at Carnegie Hall. Dunfermline, you will be required to unload and reload sets. scenery. props and sound equipment; set the stage. change cloths. dismantle sets and other manual tasks as required by the Stage Manager or Theatre Technician.
Theatre experience and previous training in manual handling is essential. Possession of a Firsc Aid Certificate is desirable.
Hours of work are up to 42 hours per week working afternoons. evenings. weekends and some mornings for which appropriate enhancements will be payable.
These post are temporary for the duration of the Christmas Pantomime (6 December I999 -
30 December I999). after which, you may be offered work on a relief basis.

SCOTTISH BALLET/SCOTTISHOPERA
Scottish Ballet and Scottish Opera, two of the UK’s outstanding large-scale touring companies are creating a unique national organisation by merging their administrative and technical departments. The new joint company - Scottish Ballet/Scottish Opera - will manage and support the activities for both ballet and opera.
TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
The person appointed will be designate Technical Director of the ioint company, with the immediate task of seeing the merging of technical departments through to completion Pending completion, the holder of this post will be Technical Director of Scottish Opera.
The Technical Director will be responsible to the Chief Executive for all aspects of flue, Company's presentation of opera and ballet on stage, including realisation of set, costume and lighting designs at the company’s own Theatre Royal, Glasgow and at other venues visited. He/she will also be responsible for all technical arrangements at tlm Theatre Royal, including servicing visiting companies.
The successful applicant will be a member of the Management Team. He/she must have demonstrated strong management ability and the capacity to manage effectively through a period of change. He/she must be capable of developing relationships with creative teams and of providing leadership for some 60 full-lime employees.
Salary range £35-40k
DIRECTOR or ADMINISTRATION, FINANCE & SERVICES
The person appointed will be designate director of Administration, Finance and Services of the new joint organisation and, pending completion of the merger, will have executive responsibility for these functions for Scottish Opera.
The post reports to the Chief Executive and deputises for him/her as necessary. The person appointed will be directly responsible for the finance, human resouu‘es, information technology and all general administrative functions of the company. A member of the management team, the post-holder will be responsible for business planning and control systems for the whole organisation. He/she will participate in the formulation of strategy, in accordance with the artistic plans and objectives for ballet and opera, translating of these into business plans.
An immediate task will be to achieve completion of merging the administrative, managerial and technical departments of Scottish Ballet and Scottish Opera.
The successful applicant will be professionally qualified in at least one of the discipllwes for which he/she will be responsible and will have demonstrated a high level of managerial ability especially in leading through periods of change. Experience of managing ballet, opera, theatre or orchestras would be an advantage.
Salary range £45-50k
