London, 1939. Sigmund Freud. one of the greatest names of the 20th century and the lather of psychoanalysis. spends his dying days in Hampstead - in exile trom Hitler's Europe. An unexpected visitor in the night throws the certainties of a life's work into doubt and blurs the borders between dreams and reality. When things cannot get any stranger, they do.

An Englishman, Irishman and American find themselves holed up together in a Lebanese cell — not the start of a bad joke, but the storyline for this sharp, intense drama from the pen of acclaimed Irish playwright Frank McGuinness. At turns moving and funny, this is the debut endeavour from recent Stirling University graduates badMAN Productions.

Friendly Fire Thu 21 Oct. 7.45pm. £6 (£3). One of twelve youth theatres selected from 150 applicants vying for a place at this year’s National Connections Festival in London, West Lothian Youth Theatre are indeed a force to be reckoned with. Written by Peter Gill and directed by Mari Binnie, this gritty and moving production gets right to the heart of teenage sexuality, and the emotional confusion therein.
