MONDAY 27

Glasgow

I The Paradise Motel Borders, Buchanan Street, 222 7700. 7pm. Tasmanian devils who have relocated to London and celebrate the release of their Reworkings album, featuring remixes of their tracks by the likes of Mogwai and Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo, with a floaty, atmospheric acoustic set which will sound nothing like the CD.

The BBC Choice music show returns for a further bout of regular recordings. g2 is its new venue and there’s a chance to see touring acts for free. See Fri 24 for Michael Shelley. WEDNESDAY 29

Glasgow

I Arab Strap And Dot Allison Mitchell Theatre, Granville Street, 287 5511. 7pm. £7.50 plus booking fee. The lovely Arab Strap return to the Mitchell Theatre where once they struggled to be heard over the audience’s whispers when they supported Belle & Sebastian. Check out their new album Elephant Shoe for a less bitter take on the life and loves of Aidan Moffat. Support from Dot Allison, forging her own path a few years after

parting company with the swoonsome One Dove. Her own material is influenced by everyone from Gram Parsons to Dusty Springfield.

Glasgow

I The Pretenders and Paddy Casey Barrowland, Gallowgate, 552 4601. 7.30pm. £13.50 plus booking fee. Cool Chrissie and her boys may produce albums of inconsistent merit but live they can still turn on the charisma. Original Pretenders sticksman Martin Chambers is a force to be reckoned with. Support act is Dublin singer/songwriter Paddy Casey. I Sneaker Pimps Queen Margaret Union, University Gardens, 339 9784. 8pm. £5. Students and guests. The Pimps have had a warm reception to their latest incarnation following the departure of singer Kelli Dayton. Guitarist Chris Corner has taken over on vocals but the vibe’s still dark and moody.
