John Stezaker - Ange s Until Sat 4 Sep. John Stezaker’s first exhibition in Scotland comprises large-scale computer generated photographs of adults and children which explore issues of good, evil, beauty and gender. In Angels Stezaker manipulates a directory of portraits from a defunct children’s model agency, resulting in a series of disturbing images. See review.

Agnes Martin and John McLaughlin Until Sun 31 Oct. A two person show featuring the work of abstract artists Agnes Martin and John McLaughlin. Canadian-bom Martin came to prominence in New York in the late 19505. Famous for her geometric, abstract works and rectilinear patterns, Martin continues to be an influential figure. Still painting at the age of 85 here exhibited (she showed work at the gallery in 1974), are fourteen works on canvas completed in the last four years. Showing alongside Martin, paintings and prints by John McLaughlin (1898-1976). He is seen as America’s first great abstract painter although he is not widely known to the public at large, due to his self-imposed detachment from the New York art scene.
