Tonight sees the popular student’s night The Funk Train (which normally resides across Bristo Square at The Potterrow) opened to the general public for the first time ever. Expect dirty ass funk and soul. In the four back rooms you can enjoy: drum & bass, big beat, funk and soul and dub, soul and reggae.

I Czech Out Da Funk at Pivo. 9pm-1am. Free. Weekly. Pre-club. One of the cosiest style bars that we’ve seen

in a while, you could do a lot worse than check out Pivo. Tonight, Fraser Heeps (who you might recognise as the Bongo Boy at Barry Cabanas) lays on the funky magic.

I International Club Festival at Teviot Row. 9pm-5am. £5. Weekly. One of the highlights of the Club Festival, we say, when Maggie & Alan Joy bring their legions of hedonistics followers along (ourselves included) for the party. The pair are known throughout the lands for their superb mix of hard house, techno and the odd bit of trance for hot and sweaty dancing, if you know what I mean. In the four back rooms you can enjoy: drum & bass, big beat, funk and soul and dub, soul and reggae.

I Jazz Joint at Henry’s Cellar Bar. 10pm-Sam. £3. Weekly. One of the best nights in the capital: Plus One and Extra aka The Dynamic Duo manage the decks with a fierce talent hip hop don’t stop joined by the MCing magic of Scotland Yard. Loads of local talent drop by every Tuesday for impromptu jams making this an essential night.
