Among the acquisitions is a rare 20th century painting by Stanley Spencer. a l6th century chiaroscuro oil by Luca Camiaso plus works by the Scottish colourists. furniture and designs by Charles Rennie Mackintosh and prints by George Stubbs and Lucian Freud.

Alexander Thomson: The Unknown Genius Thu 8 Jul—Sun I9 Sep. Nicknamed ‘Greek‘ due to his classical style. Alexander Thomson ( I8 l7—75) was responsible for making Glasgow a great Victorian city. His achievements however. have been overshadowed by those of Charles Rennie Mackintosh and this retrospective exhibition curated by Murray Grigor and Dr Gavin Stamp seeks to redress the balance.
