SHARING STORIES, THE international film production
. conference held annually in
Scotland, has a new director in the shape of Ros Borland, who takes up the post immediately. Borland is director of Glasgow-based independent production company Gabriel Films and previously worked with BBC Drama and BBC Scotland. This year's Sharing Stories takes place in Edinburgh on 12—14 November, and details will be announced in September issues of The List.
GLASGOW’S VIRGINIA GALLERIES are Undergoing internal and external repairs following an application for listed building consent by Marks and Spencer. Last October the building sank ten inches, allegedly due to construction work being done during M&S's Argyle Street extension, although this has never been verified. All of the 39 traders forced to leave the Galleries will have first option on returning to the site, but no date has yet been fixed for re-entry.

WORKERS AID FOR KOSOVO is preparing to take a convoy of educational supplies to children in the war-torn region. Pencils, paper, jotters, paints, computers and other educational supplies are desperately needed, and donations of goods or money can be handed in to the Edinburgh Trade Union Council at 26 Albany Street in Edinburgh during office hours. SCOTLAND HAS BEEN chosen by the Council of Europe to host the launch of European Heritage Days 1999 in September. The event will take place in Glasgow due to its status as UK City of Architecture and Design. European Heritage Days incorporates Scottish Archaeology Month and Doors Open Day, which this year promises the public access to Hugh MacDiarmid's restored home in Brownsbank near Biggar (12 Sep) and Glasgow’s St Aloysius School (18 & 19 Sep).
