Whose doors are open? The doors are being opened of nearly 100 buildings on the Southside of the city. These include House For An Art Lover (above), the St Francis Centre and Alexander 'Greek’ Thomson’s Double Villa.
What can we see? Apart from seeing insrde these glorious establishments, you will also be able to take gtiided tours and listen to talks about the history. the desgners and the architects of the buildings.
What about the rest of the city? Don't panic, you wrll be able to see your favourite buddings in the City Centre and West End in September.

Glasgow Cathedral

A stone-built church has stood on this site since I I36 and the lower church contains the shrine of St Mungo. who died in 603; however most of the present building dates from the I3th or l5th centuries. the most notable exception being the stained-glass windows. renowned as one of the fittest post-war collections in the country.
Holmwood House
61-63 Netherlee Road. Cathcart. 637 2129. Daily I.30—5.30pm. £3.20 (£2.20). Designed by the famed I9th century architect. Alexander 'Greek' Thomson. this house is an excellent example of his classical style. Investigation is also underway to recover the original interior decoration.
House For An Art Lover

Hunterian Art Gallery

Hunterian Museum

Scotland's Secret Bunker

What looks like your common or garden farm house from the surface in fact hid one of the country's best kept secrets for over 40 years. If the UK had cotne under nuclear attack. the fortified labyrinth underneath would have become the central command centre for government and military chiefs. Due to the cooling-off of the nuclear threat this bunker is now open to the public.
