Taste's Fifth Birthday

'Every ingredient is essential' says Gordon Band, one of the promoters of legendary Taste. 'You need the people, the venue, the fact that it‘s on a Sunday and the music to make it what it is. Take any one of those away and you lose it all.’ With its super-friendly, motley faithful and eclectic music policy, Taste has quite simply burlt itself a reputation as being one of the best clubbing experiences to be had in Edinburgh. While many clubs start out With an open musrc policy, they . inevitably end up focusmg on jUSl one or two genres. Taste has always been above that. 'The journey's always been the base of what we play,’ says Mark Price, half of the crazy main room DJ duo Fisher & Price. That ’journey' will encompass a mix of garage, vocal house, hard house and occasional anthems aimed solely at giving the dancefloor yet another

night to remember.

'People seem to discover Taste,’ says Gordon of the punters, 'and come religiously for three months, then we don’t really see them again for awhile. Three months seems to be as much as they can take! But we have a wee core of regulars that have been wrth us right from the start.’ For the faithful and inexperienced alike, Taste’s fifth is sure to be one of the essential events of the year. Period.
