T in the Park, Scotland's biggest and best music festival will celebrate its sixth successive year on 10 & 1 1 July with one of the UK's finest line-ups.

An estimated 50,000 people per day will head for Balado, Kinross to enjoy a unique mix of around 100 acts on seven stages. Highlights include Blur, Stereophonics, Manic Street Preachers, Massive Attack, Gomez, Travis, Happy Mondays and Joe Strummer and The Mescaleros. Jeff Mills, Carl Cox, Fatboy Slim and Basement Jaxx will also be starring in the Slam Tent.

Now established as THE party weekend of the Scottish summer, T in the Park goes from strength to strength in

more ways than one. This year’s campsite - home to 60% of T in the Parkers for the weekend - will boast a funfair

with dodgems, twister and two video and arcade trailers, a floodlit football pitch for after-hours sporting activity and a cinema. There is also the launch of a new Nintendo N64 Games Area with 32 consoles throughout.

Food from every corner of the globe will be on offer and a Karaoke Stage is being added should T in the Parkers feel inspired, be it Shaun Ryder from the Happy Mondays or Agnetha from BjOrn Again.

Special ’warm up’ zones will be installed, which will include heaters, clothes drying areas and coffee bars to keep people warm and dry should the weather take a turn for the worse. But with pundits predicting that temperatures will soar over the weekend, T in the Park planners are looking forward to their best year ever.

This crooner of murder ballads was our cover star for our 23 July 1998 issue and sang alongside a girl who knew she would be lucky at some stage in her life.
