Natlonal Museums of Scotland Discovery Centre Facllltators
Applications are invited for one full-time post, on a casual basis to 15th November, 1999, With the possibility of exten5ion. The salary range is between £9,093 and £15,588. It is likely that salary on appointment will be between £9,093 and £10,700 depending on qualifications and experience. Part-time Facilitators are also required to work on Saturdays and/or Sundays. Salary for these casual weekend
posts will be £5.00 per hour.
The Museum of Scotland's Discovery Centre is a hands-on activity zone, where visitors can find out about Scotland's past by investigating the evidence which survives today. The Centre forms the focus of educational provision for school pupils aged 5 to 14 visiting the Museum. A travelling element will extend this provision across Scotland. Facilitators ensure that visitors to the Discovery Centre are made to feel welcome and are looked after, helped with their investigations and encouraged to participate in the various activities on offer. They also assist visitors who wish to record their own memories in the 20th
Century Gallery's MemOry Bank.
You will be educated to at least SCE Standard grade, but a diploma or equivalent may be an advantage. You will have had some training or practical experience in working with children and/or the general public. A good team worker and well organised, you should be comfortable with IT. You will be an accomplished communicator and may have an interest in drama. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential, as you must be able to establish a rapport with a wide range of audiences.
