A musical parade will kick the day off around noon. winding its way along Sauchiehall Street. Buchanan Street. Argyle Street. Queen Street and into the Merchant City. As the parade progresses it will activate a number of stages where various musical styles — bhangra. funk. country. celtic. indie and jazz — will be represented. The musical programme will be complemented by a number of street theatre and live art events taking place throughout the city. There is also a fashion aspect to the programme. Royal Exchange Square will be transformed into an outdoor catwalk showing the Spring/Summer collections of Donna Karan and Diesel. I Chalta Khan Clyde Auditorium. 339 8383. 7.30pm. £10—£l7.50. The soul diva most famous for her 1984 Prince- penned hit ‘I Feel For You’ and 70s classic ‘l‘m Every Woman‘. Chaka Khan pays a rare visit to the UK. Her last British performance was when she appeared as a guest with The Artist in London late last year. When appearing in her own right. she leaves audiences in no dottbt as to why she truly deserves the mantle of one of America‘s finest soul singers.

The Later host will extol the virtues of all that is R&B. while Sam Brown brings a strong. soulful voice to the proceedings. Expect a host of classic tunes from down through the years with a few originals flung in for good measure. and keep your fingers crossed that he doesn‘t try out his excruciatingly awful interviewing technique.

Hip hop veterans The Jungle Brothers never fail to please with their mix of up-beat breaks and positive rhymes which has seen them become rap legends. Freddy Fresh is a DJing phenomenon. mixing musical styles. paces and genres with a casual finesse which never fails to astound. Les Rythmes Digitales is the project of Jacques Le Cont — part keyboard virtuoso. part 80s pop star. Hip hop collective L'eg Duckling will open the show. btit their set will not be broadcast so there‘s no point shouting out rude words dttring that bit. I The Last Waltz George Square. 8pm.
