Glasgow Film Theatre
’Cinema for all' proclaims the GFT’s new mosaic, which places Scotland at the very centre of the filmmaking globe. The cinema’s new tiled floor in the refurbished foyer is more than an ornament: it's a statement of ideals, hinting at countries and cultures that are explored on screen as part of the arthouse experience. A lasting legacy for Glasgow’s reign as UK City of Architecture and Design in 1999, the mosaic was designed by artist Todd Garner and supported by the Glasgow 1999 Partnership Fund and Cosmo Ceramics.

I Saw You Post Boxes
This Christmas, let someone know that you, like, dead fancy them with a little help from this very magazine. For years, List readers have been using our 1 Saw You section (see pages 122) to let their distant objects of desire know they’ve clocked them — and now it's even easier. I Saw You post boxes can be found in various notable Glasgow and Edinburgh haunts - simply pop along, fill in your message on one of the postcards provided and pop it in the box. We’ll pick up your
cards on the Thursday between issues and they will all go in the following issue. Plus, thanks to our sponsor Sauza, the whole thing is free. |

Year’s Day.
Just when you thought it was safe to stroll along the banks of the Clyde . . . Alien War Zone comes back to Glasgow, scaring the wits out of would-be Ridleys. Bringing the nightmare experience of the Alien films into a heart-pounding, adrenalin- rushing reality, Alien War Zone takes groups of twelve through dark corridors, past smoke machines and flashing lights, to the sound of a booming special effects track. Somewhere in there, an 8ft tall alien is waiting with drooling jaws, ready to taste some human meat. ln Glasgow, everyone will hear you scream. (Alan Morrison)
Alien War Zone is at SECC, Finnieston Quay, Fri 18 Dec—Sun 17 Jan (not Christmas Day). Tickets at £3.95 (£2.95) are available on 0141 287 7777 (group bookings 0141 204 0200).
Bis 8: The Powerpuff Girls
It looks like artwork straight off a Bis record sleeve, but these saucer-eyed cartoon cuties are not the work of Glasgow’s own
Rather, Bis have written the theme tune to The Powerpuff Girls, a new animated series from the makers of Dexter’s Laboratory. Bubbles, Blossom and Buttercup - the Powerpuff Girls in question — are three 'sugar-coated superheroes’ dedicated to saving the world before bedtime.
’Cartoon theme tunes down the years have been quite good really,’ says the band's Sci-Fl Steve. ’I mean, I quite like the Primus one on South Park and I don’t like Primus. So hopefully this will get people buying our records who actually hate us.’
The Powerpuff Girls starts on Cartoon Network from New
