The Sunburst Band: 'Here Come The Sunburst Band' (Z) Fine album from Dave Lee aka Joey Negro aka Rave Maize with everything from poppy elevator music to electro funk spectaculars. Retro disco meets UK house up on the podium with their hands in the air. While other artists are getting a bit up their arse with the whole revival thing, Joey Negro does in proper, Brit-take tongue in cheek style. Various: 'Sasha-Global Underground 009-San Francisco' (Boxed) Sasha is one of the finest DJs in the world and this compilation wipes the loors with most of the other mix albums out Just now. Trouble lS, you really need a bedroom the Size of a 5000 capacity club and a sound system to match to really get the best from this album. Play it loud, play it proud to tide you over until the god returns again. Various: 'Nu Jazz Generation’ (Clean UP) There's a big sticker on the front of this reading ’Don‘t file under jazz' and for good reason, too. More experimental than some of the other future funk collections that have been out, and tending towards the soundtrack-y side of big beat. Surprises at every turn. Various: 'Soma Volume 5’ (Soma) More proof that Soma are one of the most diverse, inspirational labels around. Just an outstanding album that brings together their finer releases from the past twelve months from double deep jazz funk to Detrort style techno. Tracks from Universal Principals (Stuart McMillan, Glen Gibbons, Nick Peacock), Chaser (Lars Sandberg, Nigel Hayes). Human Arts (Ashley Beedle, Diesel), Funk D'Void, Silicone Soul and a D) Q mix of 90 degrees' 'Counter Plan'. Various: 'Solevisions Volume One' (Sole Music) Alongside Soma and Glasgow Underground, Stevie Middleton's labels Solemusic, Tronicsole and Discosole make you proud to live in Glasgow. Stunnineg superior compilation with compilation from Basement Jaxx, Daddy's Favourite, DJ Q, Mike Banks and loads more. We'll have a chat with Middleton next issue.
