Borders Books Music Café
Glasgow nightlife is set to be transformed wrth the arrival of a new flagship superstore on Buchanan St. Borders Books MUSIC Video Cafe aims to satisfy your nocturnal urges by staying open from 8am—l 1pm, Monday to Saturday and Ham—10pm on Sunday. Offering the chance to ’hear it, see it and buy it', Borders have stocked the converted bank building With 150,000 book titles, 50,000 different CDs and tapes, around 5,000 Videos and more than 2,000 newspapers and mags. What’s more, they’re keen to encourage browers and have installed 150 listening posts around the store. If you're feeling rather overwhelmed by the sheer amount of goodies on offer, you can chill out in the cafe area and enjoy a coffee, a snack or a glass of wrne. Borders intend to hold 30—35 events each month, including author appearances, live mUSlC and children’s events.

Assembly Alive!
Verbal and physical acrobatics, cool clubbing and fiery rock ’n’ roll are all on the cards during Assembly Alivel, a broad-based festival of performing arts at Edinburgh’s Assembly Rooms. Ask someone to name a Jazz. musICIan and the chances are that they WIH say Miles DaVis. We featured him when he played Glasgow in 1990, one year before he died leavmg a hugely influential legacy.
