The Supernaturals
The Supernaturals have just released their second album A Tune A Day, helpfully subtitled 'a fan’s first piano book, a book where everyone can learn together’. All of which is
very sweet and much in keeping with the Wide-
eyed, innocent pop which they purvey to their ever-increasing audiences. A Tune A Day exhibits a bit more melancholy than their previous offerings but it’s a fair bet that their live shows will still zing with an infectious energy. One excitable fan was so pleased with them that she threw her bra on stage at them the last time they played this venue. Tom Jones eat your heart out. (Jonathan Trew)
The Supernaturals, Liquid Room, 23 Aug, £8 in advance from Virgin, Princes Street, 220 3234. Credit card booking: 0747 339 8383.
Heather Ann Foster
Glasgow’s a scary place. Just ask Heather Ann Foster, who makes her feature film debut in Urban Ghost Story. She plays a twelve-year-old girl who becomes convinced that the supernatural activity in her flat is connected to her own near-death experience after an ecstasy-induced car crash. Foster, who has had small roles in TV productions including Taggart, didn't want the shoot to end. ’It was very depressing when I had to go back to school,’ says the native Glaswegian. Just as long as those Carrie-style incidents don't follow her into the classroom. (Alan Morrison) Urban Ghost Story, Cameo 1, Tue 25, 8pm; Glasgow Film Theatre, Wed 26, 8pm, £6.50 (£4).

This week: John Kamikaze and Kenny Even the most casual South Park viewer knows that Kenny, the pervert kid, buys the farm every episode, in a different, hideous and disgusting manner, leading us to compare him with Edinburgh's own schlock jock, John Kamikaze, master of self-mutilation and \ leader of the Kamikaze Freak ’ Show. Swearing, violence and weird sexual stuff are all factors shared by both, and it's surely only a matter of time before Kamikaze performs an axe/head interface and Kenny gets ’freak' tattooed on his kagoul. (Peter Ross) Kamikaze Freak Show (Fringe) Calder's Gilded Balloon at La Belle Angele (Venue 101) 226 2151, until 31 Aug, 9.15pm, £8 (£7). South Park, Channel 4, Fridays.
Jewellery Moves
Taking body adornment several leagues beyond the gold necklace is Jewellery Moves. Far removed from the 'twin-set and pearls look,’ over 130 makers from 25 countries wave goodbye to the hallmark ethos and deliver funky jewellery made from everything from metal through to body hair and — believe it when you see it — pig’s bladders. While Peter Hoogeboom’s ceramic beaded creation (see above) Spanish Collar shows that boys can wear more than cotton collars. (Susanna Beaumont)
