the Edinburgh Book Festival plays host to a plethora of book-related events. from authors of international repute to the best in new talent. and a separate programme of children's events. The Book Festival is held in a purpose-built. canvas village in Charlotte Square. at the west end of the city's famous Georgian New Town. Admission to the site costs £2 (£ 1) for the day or L‘ 15 (i IO) for the whole seventeen days. Many events are free but ticketed: and there is an additional charge for tnost major author events. Fri 7—Sat 29 Aug. What started life as the Scottish forces contribution to the International Festival has now expanded to include military performers from throughout the world. Teams featured in this year's event have come from as far afield as Russia and Fiji to participate iii a programme which includes singing. dancing and a daredevil motorcycle display.
