Bisquit No 1

There are times when any good barfly has to Just sit back and wonder at the sheer ingenuity of the drinks companies. Selflessly and ceaselessly they strive to come up With ever more esoteric concoctions to enliven our drinking pleasure. The latest invention to thud on the desk is called Bisqun No 1 and it seems to be aimed at a more discerning section of the population than the latest rash of drinks made from alcohol, synthesised fruit flavours and sugar.

If we are to believe the marketing flannel, in the 1950s, cognac producers Bisqwt created a cognac that was designed to be mixed with sparkling water and zest of lemon. The resulting drink was known as the Bisqun No 1 long drink. Forty years on, Bisquit are selling a pre-prepared version of the drink. It's a blend of herbs, lemon and cognac and looks rather distinctive in these sleek bottles. French chic is yours for about £2.30.

Snapshotz

On a vaguely similar note, we're about to see a massive proliferation of something called Snapshotz around the nation's bars. Nifty little 50ml bottles of highly carbonated, flav0ured vodkas, Snapshotz seem likely to gain popularity qurte sharply. Available in lemon, cranberry and apple flavours, the bottles have a quick release snap- back cap; presumably so that you don't have to waste any time before necking the contents.

Dishes

Bazal, producers of a new Channel Four series that seems to cross Blind Date With Can’t Cook, Won’t Cook, are looking for flirtatious foodies. The programme is called Dishes and we've decided to JUSI reprint this section of their press release so that any would be volunteers know What they're letting themselves in for:

'If you're frUitier than a summer pudding, cheekier than a full-bodied French Wine and dying to spill the beans about your most thrilling filling, this could be your chance to star on national TV.’

Would be kitchen Lotharios should phone 0171 462 922800.
