How did he start? His uncle ran a club in Nancy, where he began DJing when he was fifteen, at the end of the 705, playing disco. But he reckons he has been buying records since he was ten. Why is a Paris DJ recording for a Manchester label? He was drawn to Manchester after being into the likes of New Order and The Smiths. With Paper, the label run by Miles Holloway and Elliot Eastwick, he's found peOple who have the same idea about music as he does: 'Releasing only what we like, basic and simple jazzy house'.
Why is he called 'Dirty Jesus’? He got the name he records under for Paper from Elliot Eastwick. Apparently the French bloke doesn’t shave much, has very long hair and continually wears a fatty T-shirt with Jesus on it. In the Paper offices he knocked over a cup of tea, Eastwick called him a 'Dirty Jesus‘ and the name stuck.
is he a big name in France? Pretty much so. His nights at the Rex are legendary and the 'Discomuzak' nights with Garnier are considered to be hugely influential to the French sound coming out just now.
Is he a celebrity DJ then? He just goes on people’s vibes and their music. Talking about the ’name' DJs, he says, 'They're not my cup of tea. I piss on them, to be honest.’
At 35. is he tiring of DJing yet?
Not in the slightest; he reckons he's addicted to it. Recently he missed a flight to go and DJ in Geneva and had to spend Saturday night at
home. 'l was like a junky needing my hit,‘ he said. 'l just couldn‘t control it.’ (RW)

Note that Anthony ‘Shake‘ Shakir won't be playing as advertised due to festivals being cancelled down south. but the guys promise they‘ve got someone just as good instead.

Headlining guests tonight in a vaguely speed garage sort of way are Tim & Omar from RlP (see panel and Hit list) and Matt Jam Lamont. Joining them are house merchants K Klass in a DJing capacity and fat bloke Phil Cooper. plus the Tunnel Residents.
