Historic Scotland's 1998 programme gets underway today promising events galore in celebration of Scotland's heritage and history. Specially commissioned dramas, living histo , falconry, combat displays, music and storytelling are all on offer across t e country at venues reeking of history. Today’s schedule sees the Forres Archers at Fort George near Inverness. a guided stroll in the grounds of Edzell Castle in Brechin while the highli ht comes courtesy of the Carrick 800 Battle Re-Enactment Society. A low yourself to be transported back to 1307 in the camp of Robert the Bruce (above) at Glentrool. Witness the Carrick Spearman training and using bows and axes before reliving the moment when the Earl of Pembroke's troops were, quite literally, put to the sword.
