The vocal casting has to be spot on for Mozart's dark-edged comedy of love and betrayal to work. and Scottish Opera have found six wonderful singers whose voices match perfectly. There‘s plenty of fun in Act One and. as the mood darkens in Act Two. the performers prove their acting abilities. The effectiveness of the stage design is up for debate. but in musical terms. this production cannot be bettered. Sung in Italian with English surtitles. Also on Thu 26 and Sat 28.
