All the portents of an imminent festive season are appearing: a merry pre-Xmas flurry of bills through the letterbox, busking bagpipe players dressed as Santa and frantic bursts of new product launches from snack manufacturers eager to optimise the snack-selling potential of all those Christmas parties.
Planters have got in on the act early With what they term a nutty Christmas party pack. The packs coriSIst of a Cunnineg folded board game which doubles as a box and three assorted packs of nuts Planters have released two new varieties of nuts in time for the Christmas rush: Oriental Dipped Peanuts — Spicy Thai flav0ur and Crunchy Peanuts Indian Relish flavour. A bag of each of these :s complemented by that old fav0urite Honey Roast Cashew Nuts and Peanuts.
Three sample packs sent to List towers met With mixed reSults. The Honey Roast Cashew Nuts and Peanuts garnered comments like 'yum' and 'deliCious’, although it was a bit difficult to be certain since my esteemed colleagues had stuffed their mouths so full that it was a bit tricky making out anything they said. The Indian Relish dipped peanuts were the next to be tipped into the ever- open maw of the staff and were rapidly dispatched. The Spicy Thai flavour took the greatest length of time to be polished off but finally bit the dust about two minutes after being opened. ‘Oh, they’re nice, those' commented y0ung Prentice astutely.

Great British Winter Beer Festival
Glasgow: Old Fruitmarket, Candleriggs, Thu 27—Sat 29 Nov. The Campaign For Real Ale is haVing its second annual Winter hoolie at the Old Fruitmarket in Glasgow. Over 75 different beers Will be available, including several Winter warmers made With whisky in them and one made from Scots Pine. Entertainment Includes an all-female ceilidh band on the Saturday evening, blues from the Blue Hyenas on Friday night and a Commitments—style soul band on the Thursday night.
They’ll be rolling out the barrels 5-11pm on the Thursday and from noon to 11pm on the Friday and Saturday. Entry is £3 including a free souvenir pint glass.
