SHINE ON GLASGOW CHRISTMAS LIGHTS SWITCH ON George Square, Glasgow, info: 553 1937. Sun 16 Nov, 4.30pm. Christmas just gets earlier every year, doesn’t it? To kick off this year’s Glas ow extravaganza, we have Old Firm rivals Ally ‘Super Ally’ McCoist an Marc 'The Grim’ Rieper switching the lights on. To add to the spectacle, French theatre group Plasticiens Volants will be whipping up a storm with huge illuminated inflatables and fireworks — they organised the Barcelona Olym ics closing ceremony, so they’re a bit hot. Future events include the unveiiing of the Christmas Tree Stage, the Christmas Parade, a Carol Concert and street performers galore.
