KATHAKALI is a unique form of Indian dance-drama. performed by an all- male cast wearing highly elaborate costumes and make-up. Created 400 years ago in south-west India, it can be seen in a modern incarnation this Sun 2 fortnight as the Kala Chethena Kathakali Troupe visits Scotland on its UK tour. Two pieces are presented: one based on the Mahabharata or the Ramayana; the other a re-working of the Snow White myth called “0 Oppression Of The Innocent. The company includes star Kathakali actor Kalamandalam Gopi; and the overall effect is bound to be mesmerising. Don't miss.
