Tex Mex is moving west and has opened a branch in Glasgow. When Tex Mex opened in Edinburgh fourteen years ago, it was the first Mexican restaurant in Scotland, the first to serve frozen margaritas, the first to do flaming fajitas and the first to ship its own lime from the States. The management believes that it is still the best Mexican restaurant in the country and has invested £400,000 in its Glasgow branch to prove it.
Designers Tayburn Mcllroy Coates played a large part in the look of the new Tex Mex, and the clean, modern design is a far cry from the majority of Mexican restaurants which go whole hog on the rustic cantina look. As well as the restaurant, the Glasgow branch has a bar which naturally, is called ’sublime’, With the emphasis on the lime.
Main courses such as enchiladas and chimichangas come in at around the £8—£9 mark While the char-grilled steaks, fish and lBJIIBS cost a couple of qurd more Tex Mex also makes it’s own ice-cream in four different flavours but more importantly it sells gold margeritas by the litre pitcher at £11.50.
