Club news

The column that brings you the news, views, rumours and gossip.

ENTREPRENEUR AND GENERAL bon viveur Colin Barr is getting geared up to take his style bar and club interests, including the Apartment and Lounge, several steps further this summer. At the end of May, he opened his new club let on the site of the former Volcano Club in Glasgow's West End, featuring nights from Ground Control, Tonka and Bobby Bluebell. He has secured the premises until September, after which he hopes to transfer the license to a new West End club. Barr has also just completed negotiations with Eagle Taverns to take over Acanthus in central Edinburgh,

5 giving it the Barr-style make-over

and opening up the basement as a club venue towards the end of the summer.

to a technological disaster (don’t ask), some members have been lost in computer hell. Organisers Maggie and Alan are appealing to any JOY member who hasn't received the recent JOY mailout (sent 13 May), either to write to JOY, P.O. Box 13456, Edinburgh, EH6 8YA, or to phone the JOY information line on 0131467 2551.

IGUANA BAR IS set to release a mixed CD compilation in the near future. One side will be mixed by Stuart Duncan, the other by Gareth Sommerville. If you can’t wait to get your hands on the CD, you might want to head down to Iguana of a Friday or Saturday and get your hands on the real thing, as both 015 are live in the flesh and in the mix every weekend.
