The Beautiful South Loved by mean- hearted cynics and starry-eyed lovers alike, the Hull crew return to spread a little bitterness cloaked in sugary melodies. Even before the success of their latest album, Blue Is The Colour, some smart alec worked out that one in seven households in Britain owns a Beautiful South CD. Oasis eat your heart out. FOLK
Christy Moore The legendary Irish folk singer was 21 when he first played Glasgow. He's 51 now and has mellowed a little from the protest songs of his earlier days and seems to be drawing more on older folk traditions. Still stirs the blood though. Glasgow: Royal Concert Hall, Tue 25—Sat 29 Mar.
