I Hungry Ghosts Canon's Gait. 232 Canongate. 556 448l. 9pm. Free. The Hungry Ghosts have emerged frotn the Edinburgh Songwriters' Showcase like The Lapels and Dominic Waxing Lyrical. Fronted by the deep and sottlful Tricia Thom and Norman Lamont (no. not that one) and backed by some bittersweet classical violin and fretless bass. they veer between country and melancholic blues with a touch of Everything But The Girl and even The Beatles. A relatively new addition to the Edinburgh live music scene but a very refreshing one all the same. Seek them out and you will undoubtedly be rewarded.
