FESTIVE PARTIES 0H WHAT A NIGHT
Forget family and giving and receiving presents gratefully, Christmas is a time for partying and going out as much as possible.
Starting in Edinburgh, the party season kicks off with the visit of disco-house pair .ioey liegro and Andrew ‘Doc’ Livingston to Zodiac, The Honeycomb, Friday 20 December. 0n the same night in Glasgow, Peshay is at Timeless, the Sub Club's monthly drum ’n’ bass night, while garage guru Paul ‘Trouble' Anderson meets up with Marc Auerbach at lip Yer Benson, Archaos.
Saturday 21 December sees the hip hop collective East Coast Proiect starting the first of (hopefully) many nights at la Belle Angela, while Disco Inferno welcome Boney M and The Abba Experience to Meadowbank Sports Centre, both Edinburgh. On the west coast, liegro and livingston appear at Cool Lemon, The Arches, this time alongside the harder sounds of Kenny Larkin.
Sunday 22 December finds househeads Judge Jules and lionnan Jay at The Tunnel, while Christmas Eve brings underground house and techno fiends Mark llyal, Twitch Domenic and liarri to the Sub Club; both Glasgow.
llead down to The Venue on Christmas night for three floors of the capitals’ finest Dis including iiuggy, Sommerville, Kilkie, Crosby and Alan from Joy.
Dn Boxing Day, Colours field another bumper line-up at The Arches, Glugow featuring Sasha, Dlgweed, Brandon Block and Alex P. Edinburgh meanwhile, welcomes Vena, a new night at Wilkie llouse, hosted by Belfast's Jay Kay and Taste’s Fisher and Price.
Saturday 28 December is a biggie: Cream present lloger Sanchez at The Tunnel, Glasgow while Edinburgh hosts the lllgh Dollars Ball, a one-off extravaganza at the Traverse Theatre featuring Michael Kilkle, Craig Burger
Dueen, Gareth Sommerville, Craig Smith and Kevin Mckay.
The following night brings the second Fire island Event at The Venue, Edinburgh featuring (among others) Blu Peter, liarri, Dave Randall and the Club 69 guys. Detroit’s techno pioneer Derrick May is at Aquaplanet, Sub Club, Glasgow.
flew Year’s Eve is more complicated. in Edinburgh, pick between The Awakening, Beaerection’s mighty twelve-hour tartan techno frenzy at lngliston; Yip Yap’s residents night at La Belle Angela; Wilkie liouse’s Best Of Edinburgh night; Burger Queen’s appearance on Radio Dne’s Castle Street stage and their night at Club Mercado; or Pure’s World Party at Meadowbank Sports Centre, featuring Weatherall, Speedy .i, Kevin Saunderson and p-ziq. ln Glasgow, Gemini is at the Sub Club while The Arches hosts a Collective night with various local talent including Slain, Funk D’Vold and Beiuvination.
