Bright young London- based choreographer Mark Bruce is one of three dancemakers contributing to this unique triple-bill of new work, which also features the talents of nine of Scotland’s best dancers. Dancer/choreographer Karen Grant is the link between the two halves of this double-bill. F reefall, which she co- devised and performs with Ruth Clark. explores images of flight through dance and video; while Runner is her collaboration with Marisa Zanotti, taking former hostage Bn'an Keenan’s account of four years’ captivity as the starting point for a study of the nature of freedom.

The first of four Off The Wall residencies involving local artists and companies, which culminate in free public performances to take place in Glasgow from September 96 to March 97. Joffrey Ballet of Chicago get down and dirty in purple lycra for a ballet-cum-Broadway show that sets the work of four American choreographers to the sexy sounds of Prince. It’s billed as ‘the ultimate rock ballet’ and Prince’s pouting mugshot is plastered over publicity, but Pn'nce fans be warned — the diminutive popster’s only involvement has been to sanction the use of selected pre-recorded tracks, none of which were created for Billboards. Sweat, Baroque And lloll Until Fri 20 Sept. 7.30pm. £10 (£5); apex £9 (£4.50). A new triple-bill from Scottish Ballet, featuring a vibrant new work from contemporary dance veteran Robert Cohan; the full-length version of resident choreographer Mark Baldwin’s clean-cut, breezy ballet-modem crossover Haydn Pieces and rounding off the bill. Robert North‘s vintage 705 number Troy Games - a tongue-in-cheek homage to the ancient warrior spirit in big lycra pants that even the bravest ballet dancer would need a sense of humour to wear.
