Wishes to appoint A CONTEMPORARY DANCE ARTIST
Fee - £10,000 (40 weeks)
Commencing October/November 1996
The successful applicant must be professionally trained, possess a good knowledge of all styles of dance, have proven teaching skills, choreographic experience in a professional and community context, be able to communicate well and have the ability to organise groups of people of all ages and abilities. Experience in the area of special needs, dance/theatre productions and classical ballet would be advantageous.
Working opportunities include collaborating with the Traditional Dance Artist, Drama Artist, the Writer in Residence, Visual Arts Co-ordinator and many voluntary arts organisations in Shetland.
The main aims are to develop a Youth Dance Network in Shetland, set up a series of regular classes, create performing opportunities for the community and heighten the profile of dance in Shetland.
Travel plays a key part in the post and evidence will be required of a clean, current driving licence.
The post will be on a self employed basis. Fee - £10,000 plus accommodation allowance and travel expenses.
The successful applicant must be available to start the post in late October/November 1996.

The Brunton Theatre is undergoing a 151.8 million refurbishment. Major technical developments include the upgrading of sound and lighting systems, the installation of a hydraulic orchestra pit and the construction of a flytower.
An experienced and suitably qualified individual is required to lead the stage-management team for the Brunton Theatre Company, to co-ordinate the work of the production staff for in-house productions and to work closely with the resident technician to ensure the efficient operation of the theatre for visiting performing art companies.
