The annual jazz festival on and around the Shore in 1.eith is a popular weekend extravaganza. made all the tnore so by the fact that all events are free. The listening conditions are very tnuch basic pub (anti sometimes worse). but the atmosphere is usually good. and there is plenty of worthwhile music around. mostly by Scottish artists. There are eleven pubs and restaurants participating this year. taking in music which includes (lots of) traditional jazz. swing. modern jazz. and blues. The best tactic is to get there. grab a free leaflet in any of the venues. and follow your inclinations from there.

Saturday's general sessions in all eleven venues are at the times noted above. but the Cruise Ship Edinburgh also hosts two afternoon stints. with singer Edith Budge (2.30—4pm) and the Jazz Ecosse All Stars (4.30—6.30pm). while the Parade Bands will be out in the streets between 3-5pm. The festival‘s special guest this year is Canadian folk-blues singer Mose Scarlett. who can be heard at Nobles Bar at 8pm. See Fri 14.
