While we've all had our collective head in the sand searching for the next Tarantino. the Iranians have been quietly producing exquisitely crafted little gems such as these two. The Runner follows the progress of Amiro. a yottng boy living by his wits in at Gulf port while The White Balloon is about a seven-year-old girl who is trying to buy a new goldfish in time for the Iranian New Year celebrations. From these unlikely premises. Amir Naderi and Jafar Panahi have sculpted two magical liltns.
